Still kinda geeks me out that in the New Testament there are only three occasions which talk about what God’s will is for Christians.
Given how often we inquire about the divine will for us (eg, who should we marry? what job should we get? what should we ‘do’ about this or that? etc), the sparsity of verses (and their surprising nature) is worth pondering on.
Here they are:
1 Pet 2:15 - For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.
1 Thess 4:3 - It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality
1 Thess 5:18 - Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus
So there we have it.
Do good. Don’t screw around. Be grateful.
Enough?
